OUR FINAL UPDATES FOR 2008

A long overdue update to the Schools' Ergo Competition can be found by clicking here. A big thank you to everyone who helped organise the event and present the prizes.

You'll find one proud mum's photographic record of the final of the Thames Cup by clicking here. It's a very partisan view, but hey what are mums for?

We've also updated our Henley Swim page click here, it now has some interviews on the page and there's also a new Henley Swim Results page click here.

HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA IS OVER AND REGATTA RADIO IS OFF THE AIR

Henley Royal Regatta is over and we're off the air for another year. Thank you for all the many messages of support that you've sent us. Thank you too to our principal sponsor Invesco Perpetual and to The Daily Telegraph, it really wouldn't be possible without them. We'll be back next year.

SCHOOLS' ERGO COMPETITION

The final took place on Friday Danesfield School won the Girls' prize and the Boys' was won by Valley Road School. Both events were close well fought competitions. The Regatta Radio Cups were awarded to the respective winners by Mike Sweeney, Chairman of the Committee of Management. All competitors received a medal and a top donated by Canterbury clothing. Invesco Perpetual, the Stewards' Charitable Trust and Regatta Radio sponsored the event. Thanks also to Concept2 who helped organise the event and provided the equipment. We'll be updating the Schools' Ergo competition page shortly and including photos of the event.

REGATTA RADIO ADOPTS AS ARTIST

To demonstrate our wide sporting and cultural diversity we have adopted Allan Henderson a local sculptor who has created a remarkable body of work. Amongst his work is "The Leander Sculler" modelled on Mark Hunter who will be sculling for GB in the Beijing Olympics in the lightweight double scull. Find out more by clicking here. Allan visited our studios and was interviewed live on Thursday July 3rd.

WIN A BOAT!!

For all you cash strapped clubs out there wondering how you're going to compete with Leander at next year's Royal - here's a start go to Gloucester and Ross Regattas in August and WIN A NEW BOAT.  Take the juniors and go camping - it's great fun (we did it a few year's ago and had a great time) - remember to leave a space on the trailer! Full details by clicking here.

RACE COVERAGE

The vidiprinter has been renamed "Results as they cross the line" (see panel on the left). Regatta Radio has a reporter stationed within 20 metres of the finish line updating the web as soon as results are announced. The fastest results service on the web. On this page you will also find races highlighted in blue to indicate what races we are intending to cover live on air. Sometimes we have to change this, it should be read only be taken as an indication of intention - not a guaranteed commitment - we might also throw in a few extra!

Following a straw poll we've renamed the Vidiprinter - Results as they cross the line - nobody seemed to know what a vidprinter is/was.

STUNNING IMAGES

Follow this link to see some great photos in the form of a slide show of the crews practising on Tuesday just before the Regatta began. Click here.

FIND AND SUPPORT A CLUB

Here's something new from Regatta Radio. We believe that sometimes one of the barriers to getting into rowing for a newcomer to the sport is that crew names can sometimes give no clue to where they come from (e.g Curlew and Grosvenor). People new to the Regatta want to support their hometown club, failing that a crew from their own county and, finally in desperation from their home country. So we've 3 new pages - if you want to find a club by town click here, by county/state click here, by country click here. Scroll down the page to find the  town/county/state/country and then scroll across the page to find more details of the their status and when they'll be racing. So, if you're new to rowing, select a crew and get down here and support them. Use our Novice's Guide to a Day out at Henley to help you get into a really enjoyable day at the Regatta.

We added the Vidiprinter to the panel on the left. We'll be updating both the Vidiprinter and the Draw as the results come in.

As a prelude to our much acclaimed Results service which we will once again be running (including the vidiprinter) we have published the Draw. We're toying with putting the results on twitter, if you'd like us to do this then please e-mail us at info@regattaradio.co.uk.

New to the Henley Royal Regatta? Then read our novice's guide to a day out at Henley click here.

HENLEY SWIM

We've been down on the Henley Reach for the 5th Annual Black Sheep Henley Swim which took place at 4:30 Sunday morning and what a fantastic event it was! Cindy Burrowes covered the event extensively on the radio on this beautiful morning and has a number of interviews which we'll be making available, together with a link to the results page, on this website shortly. In the meantime click here to view a series of images we captured this morning. An absolutely brilliant event, another triumph for British eccentricity, congratulations to all concerned from Regatta Radio.

A new Social Networking section has been added and Miscellaneous for some great bits we don't know where else to put.

Face for Radio Competition listen to the entries and vote on-line.

MYSTIC HENLEY 2008 our competition run in conjunction with the Rowing Service is now open and accepting entries. A magnificent hamper composed by our in-house gourmet Mr Adrian Smith will once again be the prize, it is as nothing compared to the kudos on offer.

We've analysed this year's entry to the Royal Regatta to access this click here.

Full details of the Qualifying Races are available on the Henley Royal Regatta website click here.

As you may have noticed we're streaming on line live NOW click here to listen.

Regatta Radio now has a twitter account join our growing list of followers!

The Schools' Ergo Competition is now fully under way. Eight local schools are competing. The finals will be held during the tea interval on Friday July 4th. Mike Sweeney, The Stewards' Chairman of the Committee of Management has kindly agreed to present the prizes. For more information follow this link.

Regatta Radio will be on air to cover the world's favourite regatta from Wednesday June 25th - Sunday July 6th this year. Locally we'll be broadcasting on a new frequency 87.7 FM; we're expecting this to give us better coverage than we achieved last year. For those of you who listen to us over the internet there'll be no change.

We are very pleased to say that our principal sponsors Invesco Perpetual and the Daily Telegraph have once again renewed their association with us. Without them we couldn't do it, so many thanks to them.

We're very excited about this year's broadcast. Our race coverage team has been significantly enhanced and we have many new initiatives afoot. We'll be updating the website frequently until the end of the Royal Regatta so visit us regularly to keep up-to-date with developments.

We're delighted to welcome Robert Treharne Jones to head up our commentary team. Robert is currently recruiting commentators - if you're interested follow this link.

Rachel Quarrell, the Daily & Sunday Telegraph's rowing correspondent, will once again be previewing the days racing on the morning of race days and summarising the days events at the end of the day. So if you're coming to Henley on race days, listen to Rachel in the morning to learn what to watch, but if you miss the racing then listen to her in the evening to hear what you should have seen! We'll be regularly updating the website with podcasts from Rachel's broadcast when the Royal Regatta is running. Keep up to date with the latest rowing news by visiting Rachel's website - see the panel on the right which is linked to the website.

We'll be running our popular results service, with updated draws and the vidiprinter here on the web when racing is on. The fastest Henley Royal Regatta results service available.

Michael Jones, author of "Guide to Henley Regatta and Reach" and "Guide to Rowing", will also be on air answering any question you may have concerning the rich heritage and traditions of the Henley Royal Regatta. Send your questions to info@regattaradio.co.uk and we'll give you an indication of when they'll be answered on air.

This year is the centenary of the 1908 Olympic Regatta and also the 60th anniversary of the 1948 Olympic Regatta, both of which we're held at Henley. Incidentally this makes Henley the only venue in the world to have hosted 2 Olympic Regattas.

We'll be publishing more detailed listings of our output here as soon as it becomes available.
